About Me
Kate Marson
Professional Background
Following my graduation from the University of Cambridge in 2012, I moved to Glasgow, where I enjoyed three successful years at a private school there, as a Teacher of Classics. During my time in Scotland, I introduced hundreds of students to the joy of Latin at beginner level, and helped many students to succeed in their Classics examinations (including a full set of A grades in my final year at the school).
In 2015, I moved to Switzerland, to take up a position as a private travelling tutor. Working closely with my two students (bilingual brothers aged 11 and 14 at the beginning of the post), I taught a wide range of subjects including English, Latin, History and Classical Civilisation. I also provided consultancy services for the eldest student in 2018, when I guided him through his application to a number of U.S. universities.
Love then brought me to the Netherlands in July 2018, where I have been living ever since. I set up Kate's Tutor Room in September of the same year and, since then, I have had a full timetable of students from around the world, across all of the subjects which I offer. I teach solely online, giving me the flexibility to connect with students regardless of their location. In the last two years, I have helped almost 50 students to achieve their academic goals, and supported them through school entrance tests, GCSE and A Level examinations and university applications.
Academic Background
I attended the private Nottingham Girls' High School, achieving 10 A* grades at GCSE, 4 A grades at AS Level, and 3 A grades at A2 Level. I had a hugely positive academic experience, and this has formed the strong foundation to my pedagogical ideals.
I then studied Classics at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, achieving a Master of Arts degree.
